Four deliberate steps
The story gets richer without the setup getting heavier.
The creator stays in control while friends contribute only to the recap they were invited into.
2 · Add people and moments
Begin with names, photographs, and the lines everyone remembers.
The guided creator will organize people, photo chapters, memories, quotes, positive awards, and a closing message. Empty optional sections can stay out.
3 · Invite contributors
Let friends fill the parts of the story you missed.
After the creator claims an account, scoped invitation links will let contributors add material without accounts. The creator keeps final approval.
4 · Preview and publish
Choose a plan only after the finished shape is visible.
Preview the recap, compare exact limits, choose a supported privacy state, and publish one shareable website. Checkout and publishing connect in later phases.
What stays under your control
Private while you make it. Deliberate when you share it.
Drafts begin private. Customer recaps default to unlisted, remain noindex, and never appear in a public user directory because there is no public user directory.
Guest-first
Begin before creating an account. Claim the draft before invitations or payment.
Review first
Contributions do not bypass the creator or publish themselves.
One-time plans
Basic and Premium apply to one recap and include five years of hosting.

The practical questions
Do friends need accounts?
No. Contributors will use recap-scoped invitation links. The creator needs an account before sending invitations, purchasing, or publishing.
Is my recap public?
Drafts are private. Published customer recaps default to unlisted, stay out of the sitemap, and carry noindex directives at launch.
Can I start for free?
Yes. The Free draft holds 12 photos, 6 members, and 5 contributors. It stays private and cannot be published.
Can I edit before publishing?
That is the intended workflow: shape and preview the recap before choosing a paid plan. Full saving and editing arrive in later product phases.
What happens after payment?
The planned checkout flow confirms the paid entitlement, lets the creator choose a supported privacy state, and publishes an immutable version. Checkout is not implemented in Phase 4.
How long is a paid recap hosted?
5 years from first publish are included with Basic and Premium. Squad Recap does not promise lifetime hosting.
